Tangled Hair Home Remedies

To make sure your mane stays free flowing and healthy, consider the following home remedies for tangled hair:

a) Ponytail Holder or Rubber Band:

When traveling in a car or where weather conditions are windy, consider using a ponytail holder or rubber bands to tie back your hair.

b) Apple Cider Vinegar:

Fight frizzy hair and tangles by rinsing with apple cider vinegar. Add one tablespoon of the vinegar to one cup of warm water. Pour the concoction over hair after thoroughly wetting your strands. This ensures that the vinegar will be able to penetrate. Keep the vinegar rinse on your hair, followed by your normal routine for conditioning.

c) Oil:

At least one to two times per week, apply oil to your hair if you suffer from dryness. The oil should be warmed before attempting to hydrate your locks. Keep the oil on your hair overnight to encourage the process of repair. Apply a plastic shower cap to hold in the oil. After conditioning your hair in the morning, leave on the product for 10 minutes, and then wash and rinse out.

d) Olive Oil:

If you find gum in your hair, rub olive oil throughout the affected strands to soften the damage.

e) Baking Soda:

If you add extra moisture to your hair, you can help with detangling. Add one tablespoon of baking soda to three or more tablespoons of your usual conditioner. Transfer the blend to a plastic container and completely mix before using. Apply the remedy to your entire head – using a section-by-section method. Gently massage your scalp to eliminate any previous residue, and then cover your head with a plastic cap. Allow the mixture to work its magic for at least 45 minutes. Thoroughly rinse with warm water.

f) Hair Massage:

After washing and towel drying your hair, place a bit of conditioner in the palms of your hands. Massage the ends of your hair, and then work your way up to the scalp.

g) Create a Conditioner Spray:

If your hair is dry and tangled at the same time, add about ¼ cup of your favorite conditioner and ½ cup of water to a spray bottle. Thoroughly mix the ingredients. After towel drying your hair, lightly spray the remedy before combing out the tangles.

h) Pillow Covers:

You probably never thought of it, but the friction between your pillow and hair could be contributing to your tangled hair issues. Opt for satin pillow covers to go easy on your strands.

i) Baby Oil:

You can use baby oil as a gentle leave-in conditioner to help tame tangled hair. Using your fingers or a wide-toothed comb, spread a small amount of the oil throughout your hair.

j) Honey:

It is said that you can rub in five tablespoons of honey to damp tangled hair. Leave in for 5 to 10 minutes, and then wash out.

k) Use a Comb:

To remove tangles, do not use a brush on your wet hair. Instead, choose a comb with wide teeth. Start at the ends and working your way upward.

l) Peanut Butter:

To remove the tangles caused by gum in your hair, use peanut butter to soften the confusion.

m) Mayonnaise:

The slick, oily consistency of mayonnaise works wonders on detangling hair, especially when chewing gum is involved.
