The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a tricky collection of viruses that can affect men, women, and children in a variety of different ways. For example, the genital infection associated with HPV strikes nearly 50% of all sexually active people at some point in their lives. Many are unaware that they have the STD because not all people show signs. To treat the symptoms that come with the virus, consider home remedies for HPV.

What is HPV?
HPV is a short way to refer to the human papillomavirus virus, where there are nearly 60 different kinds that can cause warts to form all over the body. Depending on the kind of HPV virus you are infected with, warts may appear on the hands, feet, and genitals. Some HPVs are transmitted through sexual contact, while others can cause cervical cancer in women.
Causes of HPV
The HPV virus enters the body through a cut, scratch or other tear in the skin. The virus is primarily transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. Sexual intercourse, anal sex, and other sexual acts involving the genital regions is how the HPV infection is transmitted to the genitals.
HPV Symptoms
Warts can appear in many different sizes, shapes and colors, such as pink and flesh colored. For example, genital warts can be flat, raised or shaped like cauliflower. Some are small, while others grow rather large and unsightly. Sometimes, they appear as a single wart, while other times, a cluster may develop.
Depending on the strain of HPV virus, you may encounter the following symptoms:
• Pre-malignant Genital Lesions: Some HPV infections cause changes in cells that can lead to cancer of the cervix.
• Oral and Upper Respiratory Lesions: Some infections bring warts and other lesions to the tonsils, tongue, soft palate, larynx, and the nose.
• Cervical Cancer and other Tumors: Common symptoms include abnormal vaginal bleeding of persistent infection.
• Common Warts: Growths that often attack the hands, fingers or around fingernails appear rough and raised on the skin.
• Plantar Warts: Hard grainy growths that develop on the heel or ball of the feet.
• Flat Warts: With a flat, slightly raised appearance, these kinds of warts are typically found on the face, hands, neck, wrists, elbows, and knees.
HPV Home Remedies
Home remedies for HPV will address one of two issues – oral lesions and warts. To get you started in the right direction, consider the following suggestions:
a) Salt Water:
To treat oral lesions caused by HPV, rinse your mouth out with warm water and salt. The salt water provides temporary relief throughout the day.
b) Hydrogen Peroxide:
Dilute one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide in a glass of water. Swish the liquid around your mouth to disinfect mouth sores. This home remedy will also speed up the healing process.
c) Tea Bag:
Soothe a painful mouth lesion by applying a moistened black tea bag to sores. The tea contains tannin, which is known as an astringent with pain-relieving capabilities.
d) Milk of Magnesia:
Swish a small amount of milk of magnesia (Mylanta) in your mouth, which helps form a protective coating on sores. It is also suggested that this remedy provides an antibacterial effect as well.
e) Vitamin E:
Encourage the healing of genital warts by applying vitamin E oil to infected skin and cover with crushed, raw garlic. Cover the wart with adhesive tape. Some people have reported their warts falling off within one week.
Extract juice from onion slices that have been covered in salt overnight. Apply the remedy to affected skin to see results.
For two to three times per day, apply the milky juice that comes from a broken fig plant’s stem to affected skin.
h) Apple Cider Vinegar:
With the help of a cotton ball, apply apple cider vinegar to warts as a healing treatment.
i) Tropical Fruits:
The enzymes found in tropical fruits, such as pineapple and papaya, are known to digest and dissolve warts. The same effects are said when applying the raw side of a banana peel on warts.
An antiseptic mouthwash (such as Listerine) can promote healing and rinse away the signs of infection caused by HPV oral lesions. Follow this remedy for several times a day for the best results.
k) Dietary Changes:
It is suggested to increase the amount of sulfur-containing amino acids found in your diet, such as asparagus, citrus fruits, eggs, garlic, and onions. However, to eliminate the pain of oral lesions, avoid spices, coffee, citrus fruits, chocolate, strawberries, and nuts, which can irritate mouth sores.
l) Duct Tape:
One of the best-known home remedies for HPV warts on the fingers is duct tape. Wrap duct tape around your wart and leave it all continuously – changing only when the tape looks soiled. Patience will go a long way with this home remedy and if you follow through for at least three weeks, you could completely eliminate your finger warts.
m) Castor Oil:
Warm a small amount of castor oil and place a drop onto a wart. Cover with a Band-Aid and change up to two times per day.
n) Lemon Juice:
Rub lemon juice into body warts as a way to treat and dry out their appearance.
